    New News Story

As you may be aware, this year marks 50 years since Armadale Academy was first opened.
The school first opened in 1967 and we are planning to celebrate our Golden Anniversary on Saturday 4th November 2017.  We are currently organising how we can celebrate this event as a community.

These are our plans so far:
We will have some displays of photographs and memorabilia from the last 50 years.  We are looking for help to add to these. Do you have any photographs from your time at Armadale Academy over the last 50 years?  Maybe you have photos from the old school?  Perhaps sporting or academic achievements or music shows etc.
Any school show programmes would also be great – so far we have an early ‘Oliver’ (date unknown - probably late 1960’s), ‘Calamity Jane’ (date unknown), ‘Hey Mr DJ!’ from 2005.  These events involved so many participants that they bring back many memories to former students, staff and the community.
We have some photographs and brochures, mainly from the opening date which are great.  We would really like to have more photographs of friends and groups to represent all of the last 50 years.  We have only a few photos from the 1970’s and none from the 1980’s or 1990’s.  Any photographs or brochures can be colour copied quickly and returned promptly.
School yearbooks are fascinating reading and always have so many memories in them – so far we have the 2008 and 2009 issues.
We are also hoping to have displays in our cabinets of memorabilia from the last 50 years that would be of interest to others at this event.  Can you know someone who could help by lending us something for these?
Maybe you could share a story or memory from your time at school - happy events and fond memories, maybe of friendships made or school dinners.
We are open to suggestions for ideas on how we should mark this anniversary.
There will be displays from our current curricular areas showing typical lessons from 1967 compared to lessons today.
We will have guided tours of the school to show the current building and classrooms.
There will also be a Community Fayre from 1pm – 4pm on the day with stall holders selling a range of goods and gifts.  We currently have 18 stall holders who have signed up to participate.
