The annual Mitsubishi “Pump it up” Challenge is now in its 3rd year. The main aim of the challenge is to develop young people’s skills for life, learning and work through all aspects of Curriculum for Excellence with real and relevant experiences.
Working in partnership with Mitsubishi Electric and West Lothian Chamber of Commerce the “Pump it up” challenge is designed to bring industry and schools within West Lothian closer together.
The challenge enables our students through inter disciplinary learning in Science and Technology to develop a better understanding of the Science and Technology involved in “green” energy. The students work in a group to create a design solution to a green energy problem.
Every secondary school in West Lothian organise their own school challenge and select a winner. The winners from each school attend the final. The Final of the 2016 Mitsubishi “Pump it up” Challenge took place on 13th June 2016 at Howden Park Centre. All eleven secondary schools from West Lothian were represented.
There was a high standard of presentations, innovation and enthusiasm from all the teams.
Congratulation to Bruce McCaig, Chloe Balderston, Matt McDonald from Armadale Academy winners of the 2016 Mitsubishi “Pump it up” Challenge. Their project “Heat at Height” impressed the judges.
A big thank-you to Mitsubishi Electric and West Lothian Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring challenge and to Business Gateway and Educational Services for supporting this challenge.
